Two Basin schools win state drill championships

YAKIMA — Two Columbia Basin dance teams brought home titles from the WIAA Dance/Drill State Championships over the weekend.

The Moses Lake High School Molahiettes took the state championship in the 4A military drill category and finished third in the kick competition. Moses Lake also competed in the pom (as in pom poms) category. 

The Royal High School dance team also won a title, taking the championship in the 1A/2A military category. The Knights were the last team on the floor, both for the military category and the entire tournament. They also competed in the kick category. 

The Othello High School dance team took second in the 1A/2A hip-hop competition and third in pom competition. Quincy High School returned to state for the first time since 2022, competing in the dance category.
