Washington homeowners to receive assistance with mortgage payments

| March 31, 2020 11:08 PM

OLYMPIA — Gov. Jay Inslee and Charlie Clark, director of the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions, announced Wednesday that the state will take steps to assist homeowners who are unable to make mortgage payments due to restrictions put in place because of the COVID-19 outbreak.

DFI’s guidance to companies servicing mortgage payments urges them to work with homeowners negatively affected by the virus and offer payment forbearance for those who need it.

More information can be found on the DFI’s website at www.dfi.wa.gov. Homeowners may also call DFI at 877-746-4334, or visit www.homeownership.wa.gov to get assistance on how best to contact their mortgage servicer.
