Othello superintendent’s contract extended

| June 30, 2020 11:45 PM

OTHELLO — Othello School Board members extended the contract of superintendent Chris Hurst through 2023. The contract was approved by the board in a 5-0 vote at the June 22 board meeting.

The base salary will be $182,500, which includes a $25,000 signing bonus. For 2020-21, the signing bonus was treated as part of the base salary.

The contract puts Hurst toward the low end of salaries for superintendents of districts of a similar size to Othello, according to a list of superintendent salaries given to board members. The salary information was compiled from publicly available records by district staff and included in the packet for board members and the public. Hurst’s pay will be less than the superintendents in Moses Lake and Richland.
