MOSES LAKE — Road construction is projected to start in June on a section of Stratford Road from Road 12 Northeast to Road 16 Northeast.

Interim Grant County Public Works director Sam Dart said the project will cost an estimated $1.7 million. The county will pay $750,000 to $850,000 of the construction costs and about $100,000 toward preliminary engineering costs.

The earliest start date would be early to mid-June. The four miles of Stratford Road will be resurfaced with a mix of rock and tar, a process called chip sealing.

Construction should begin in July or August on two other projects, one on Valley Road, the other on Road 3 Northeast, also known as Wheeler Road. Both projects are mostly federally funded, Dart said.

The Road 3 Northeast project will run from Road Q Northeast to Road S Northeast. The work will include earthwork and drainage improvements, and new asphalt paving. It’s the second of three phases, Dart said.

A portion of Valley Road, from the Cascade Park entrance to Scott Road, will be repaved. Sidewalk improvements are planned as well as better ramps, Dart said.
