Brush fire sparked by chop saw burns 15 acres near Moses Lake

| June 19, 2019 9:29 PM

MOSES LAKE — An approximately 15-acre brushfire that threw up smoke west of Moses Lake Wednesday evening ignited after sparks flew from a resident’s chop saw, said Grant County Fire District Assistant Chief Rick Wentworth.

High winds quickly spread the blaze in a patch of grass and sagebrush across about three different parcels, threatening nearby residences but ultimately damaging none.

“It could have done some serious damage, because there are several residences around here, but we kept it out of everybody’s yard,” Wentworth said.
