Suspect starts fire in Quincy Elementary School Tuesday morning

QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department is looking for information that may lead to an arrest of a young male suspect who set a fire in the Ancient Lakes Elementary School teacher’s lounge in Quincy Tuesday morning.

Around 1 a.m. Tuesday morning, surveillance footage shows the suspect entering the school, wandering around for some time, and then entering the teacher’s lounge. The suspect reportedly turned on the stove and piled combustible materials onto an element, starting a fire that triggered alarms.

The suspect also reportedly destroyed a computer monitor, possibly with a skateboard he was seen carrying through the facility.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact the Quincy Police Department at 509-787-4718.
