Man arrested in Othello shooting
OTHELLO — A man is in custody in connection with a mid-August shooting in Othello.
About 12:20 a.m. on Aug. 16 officers with the Othello Police Department and deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 600 block of Susan Place after receiving a report of a gunshot victim. The victim was transported to Othello Community Hospital by a private vehicle for treatment of a non-life threatening gunshot wound.
Through their investigation police identified Alejandro Mata, 29, as the reported shooter in the incident. The Susan Place home was searched, but Mata was not located inside. Mata was later arrested on Aug. 19 after he was found as a passenger in a vehicle in the 200 block of Larch Street. The suspect was booked into the Adams County Jail on charges of assault and unlawful possession of a firearm. In addition to Alejandro Mata, Noel Mata, 28 and Stefanie Ziegler, 34 were booked into jail for rendering criminal assistance.
