Alleged motorcycle thief nabbed in Moses Lake

MOSES LAKE - A stolen motorcycle was recovered in Moses Lake on Monday, thanks in part to the owner of the bike helping the police.
On Monday morning the Moses Lake Police Department received a report of a stolen motorcycle from the west end of the city. Police could not locate the bike, but later on in the day the owner advised he was out looking for the motorcycle and found it being ridden near the Larson community.
“The owner was sure it was his, partially because the thief was still wearing his daughter's distinctive helmet,” stated the MLPD.
Police responded and found a subject - who reportedly matched the description of the motorcycle thief - in front of a home on Stone Road. As police approached, the suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Robert Patterson, allegedly put on his helmet and moved toward the bike “in an apparent attempt to flee.”
“However, he was convinced to do otherwise, potentially because both MLPD K9 Chief and GCSO K9 Chicka (AKA 'The Criminal Discouragement Squad') were on scene.”
Patterson was taken into custody and booked into the Grant County Jail for burglary and possession of a stolen vehicle.
