State patrol: Vantage semi crash caused by negligent driving

| April 17, 2019 3:00 AM

VANTAGE — A semi traveling westbound on I-90 over the Vantage Bridge was driving too fast to negotiate the curve, causing it to roll over the Jersey barrier and come to rest across the eastbound lanes around 9 a.m. April 10, according to the state patrol.

Although the semi was removed from the scene, the eastbound lanes were still closed for several hours while crews cleaned a fuel leak from the truck. The westbound lanes were temporarily closed following the crash, but one lane has been reopened.

The driver of the semi, Matthew Day, 33, was injured in the rollover and transported to the Quincy Valley Medical Center. He is facing second-degree negligent driving charges for the incident.
