Dear Othello citizens,

I would like to thank everyone who volunteered his or her time this past year to help make Othello a better place to live. The results of your efforts and time are truly appreciated.

Looking into 2019, I see an even greater need for volunteers. We have lost some of the “work horses” of our community the past few years and some of the others who for years have stepped up to help are getting older. Funding for programs is being cut at all levels, which makes volunteering even more necessary.

The following groups come to mind: The Othello Fire Department, Crane Festival, Lions, Rotary, Habitat for Humanity, Pet Rescue, Adams County Fair, Othello Rodeo Association, 4-H, Othello Museum, Othello Senior Center, Othello Beautification, Othello Food Bank, Hospital Auxiliary, Relay for Life, Cancer Survivors, summer sports, Memorial Day at Bess Hampton, Christmas basket program, The Old Hotel, et cetera.

Hopefully from this list there would be one or more that would capture your interests. One does not need to be retired to be of help. Just a few hours a months of your time can make a big difference in our area.
