EAST WENATCHEE — A Quincy man was cited for his role in a two-vehicle collision near East Wenatchee over the weekend that left two people injured.

About 1:20 p.m. on Sunday Jesus Villarreal, 19, of Quincy, was driving a 2000 Volkswagen Jetta west on state Route 28, about four miles east of East Wenatchee, and reportedly crossed the centerline after losing control of his vehicle. Villarreal’s vehicle collided with an eastbound 2005 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Laura Chmela, 63, of Entiat, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Chemela’s passengers, Kandace Johnson, 44, of Rock Island, and a 13-year-old girl from Rock Island, were injured and transported to Confluence Health-Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee for treatment. Both vehicles received reportable damages.

After investigating the incident, the patrol concluded the collision’s cause was Villarreal speeding too fast for conditions. Villarreal was cited for driving over the centerline.
