| January 6, 2016 12:45 PM

June 29, 1960 – January 2, 2015

James Randall Chittock, 55, a resident of Moses Lake, Washington passed away on Saturday, Jan. 2 at his home surrounded by loved ones after a short, but courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on June 29, 1960 in Heppner Ore., the 10th child of John and Virginia (Mills) Chittock. After a short time in northeastern Oregon, his family moved to southern Idaho and lived in various towns throughout the Magic Valley. As James (also known to his friends and family as Jim and Randy) grew up he moved to various states around the Northwest before settling in Moses Lake.

A loving husband, father, grandfather, newly minted great-grandfather, and friend, James was best known for his gregarious attitude towards life. For the majority of his career he worked in residential and commercial construction, a trade he learned from his brother, Ward. After retiring early, James volunteered his time at Samaritan Hospital and helped his wife Margarita at their clothing store in Moses Lake. During his retirement years, James lived for spending time with his children and grand children. His house was usually filled with family, and it was always filled with his love. Never short of an opinion, a ear to listen, or a shoulder to lean on, James helped guide his family through his wisdom and selflessness.

Residents of Moses Lake may know James as the man behind them in a large Chevy Silverado truck showing them a distinct gesture when they failed to use their turn signal properly or otherwise drove in a manner not to his liking.

James is survived by his wife, Margarita Kelly; daughter, Heather Marsh of Twin Falls, Idaho; daughter Jessie Pelham of Moses Lake, Wash.; son Brad Sartin of Douglass, Kan.; son James (Jim) Chittock, Jr of Arlington, Va; stepson Michael Kelly of Pasco, Wash. and stepdaughter Maria-Alicia Kelly of Moses Lake, Wash. In addition to his four children and two step hildren, James also had 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. James is also survived by his sister, Leah Lippert of La Grande, Ore.; brother Charles Chittock of Pocatello, Idaho; brother Ward Chittock of Nampa, Idaho; sister Kathy Thompson of Kimberly, Idaho; sister Cheryl Lee of Ephrata, Wash.; brother Victor Chittock of Hansen, Idaho; and sister Jenny Forsythe of Greenville, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother John Chittock, sister Pearl (Sandy) Sherwin, and youngest brother, Peter (Pete) Chittock.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan 8, 2016 at the United Methodist Church, 746 S. Ironwood Drive, Moses Lake.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in James’ name be made to the Columbia Basin Cancer Foundation of Moses Lake and Assured Hospice of Moses Lake. Please sign the online guestbook or leave a note for the family at www.kayserschapel.com. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kayser’s Chapel of Memories, located in Moses Lake.
