Ice delays annual trout derby

Quincy, WA - Ice conditions have prompted organizers of the 4th annual Tagged Trout Derby in Quincy, scheduled for March 1st, to move the date of the event to the 8th of March. Ice is thick enough on Burke and Quincy lakes may not allow for the release of the tagged fish into the lakes and prevent anglers from being able to fish for them.

According to organizers, the Quincy Valley Tourism Association, there is much warmer weather forecast for the next week and they feel more confident that the lakes would be cleared of enough ice by the second weekend of March to hold the event.

This year there will be tagged trout worth up to $2,000.00 released into both Burke and Quincy lakes, and each tagged fish that is not a big money winner will be worth $100.00 to the lucky angler that lands them. This more than doubles the prize money available to anglers at this year's event. The QVTA want participants to have the best possible chance of catching the prize money fish.
