Royal girls drop contest to Ritzville

| January 11, 2013 5:00 AM

ROYAL CITY - Ritzville raced to a 22-4 lead after one quarter and never looked back Saturday evening in a 65-9 prep girls basketball victory over Royal.

Ritzville nearly shut the Knights out in the second period, 16-1. The outcome left coach Phil Daubel looking for answers.

"We need to learn what it takes to play hard for 32 minutes," he said. "Our intensity level is very lacking at times. We need to understand what it means to compete and do that every possession of every game."

Flor Araujo, Kailee Harris, Brittany Hebdon and Becca Lee scored two points each. Nicole Schwendiman scored 1.
