MATTAWA - The Mattawa City Council approved an Easter Egg Hunt for Saturday, April 7, at its regular meeting last Thursday.

The request was made by the Mattawa-Desert Aire Lions Club. The hunt will be held in Hund Memorial Park.

In other business at Thursday's short meeting, the council turned down the Grant County Economic Development Council's request for $2,230 of support in 2012.

The council approved the use of city hall and its staff as a pay station for Grant County PUD power customers. The PUD pays $2,000 per month for the service.

At the meeting of Feb. 2, the council decided to send a letter to property owners with port-a-potties to advise that they be removed. City Attorney Katherine Kennison told the council that port-a-potties are not allowed for residential or commercial use in the city.

At that meeting, Andres Negrete asked the city for sewer hook-ups at two locations outside of the city limits. He was expected to follow up at the meeting of the 16th but did not appear.
