Wild rally to pick up a point

FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Wenatchee Wild rallied from a 3-0 deficit Tuesday to force extra time but eventually fell to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in a shootout, 4-3, at the Big Dipper Ice Arena in Fairbanks, Alaska.
J.T. Osborn put the Ice Dogs up 1-0 with one second remaining in the first period when he banged in a goal from the near side of the cage. Russell Finch and Gabe Levin assisted.
Fairbanks tacked on two more goals in the second period. Alec Hajdukovich scored his team's second marker with 8:17 remaining before the second intermission. Tayler Munson and Garret Clemment picked up the assists. Osborn made it 3-0 with 5:45 left in the stanza when he lit the lamp on a one-timer from the inside edge of the near circle off of a feed from Gabe Levin. Sean O'Rourke also assisted.
Ben Carey got the Wild on the scoreboard with 2:27 remaining in the second period when he put back a rebound moments after a power play expired. Chris Kerr and Dylan Abood assisted.
The Wild scored two goals in the third period to force overtime. Max McHugh cut Fairbanks' lead to 3-2 with 8:20 to go in regulation. Carey and Kerr assisted.
Trace Redmond sent the game to overtime when he scored an extra-attacker marker with 1:26 left in regulation when he deflected in Chris Knudson's shot from the far point. Abood picked up his second helper of the game on the sequence when he fed Knudson the puck on a point-to-point pass.
The game went to a shootout after a scoreless overtime session. Goalies Alex Fons and Greg Lewis shined in the one-on-one segment. Fons stopped all five of Wenatchee's shooters while Lewis gave up just one marker, to Munson, who was the Ice Dogs' fifth shooter.
Fons made 28 saves on 31 shots while Lewis denied 29-of-32 shots. Fairbanks scored one power-play goal on five chances while Wenatchee went 0-for-5 on the man-advantage.
Osborn led Fairbanks with two goals while Levin had two assists, both of which were on Osborn's markers. Carey paced the Wild with a goal and an assist while Kerr and Abood each recorded two assists.
