MOSES LAKE - "Our future - protecting property values" is the topic of the final forum about Moses Lake on Monday.

The free, public event begins at 4:30 p.m. at Big Bend Community College's ATEC Center, 7662 Chanute St. NE, Moses Lake.

The event's first hour is an opportunity for guests to visit with elected officials, including former Gov. Mike Lowry, current Rep. Judy Warnick, R-Moses Lake, and guest speakers BiJay Adams, of Liberty Lake Water District, Jeff Foster, president of Moses Lake/Othello Realtors Association and Jonathan Smith, incoming director of the Grant County Economic Development Council.

The main presentation by Adams begins at 6 p.m.

The forum is about the impact of the economy on the lake and how important it is to the economy with regard to houses, property values and jobs, according to Ron Covey, the Moses Lake Irrigation & Rehabilitation District's board chairman.

It's why the speakers include Smith and Foster.

"Everyone should be interested in this," Covey said. Property values impact property owners throughout Moses Lake, he added.

"Everyone should be interested in how the impact of the lake has bearing on the economic future of our community," Covey commented.

Instead of screening questions like at previous forums, there is an open microphone question and answer session. But questions must relate to the forum topic, Covey said.

All speakers are participating at their own expense, he said.

The Moses Lake Business Association is paying for the cost of refreshments.
