Three people die in wreck

SOAP LAKE — Three people died from injuries sustained in a crash on state Route 28, six miles east of Soap Lake Thursday afternoon.

Travis McAfee, 22, Wilson Creek, and Kyle Hartley, 17, Ephrata, were pronounced dead at the scene, the Washington State Patrol reported Friday.

Taylor Blackburn, 16, Ephrata, died  later the same day after being airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, He was treated for a head injury, according to the state patrol.

Blackburn was driving a 1992 Acura Integra westbound on the highway when he reportedly left the roadway to the left, the state patrol reported. The car rolled and struck a power pole.

The driver was airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for reported head injuries.

The cause of the collision is under investigation. The state patrol reports drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.

The car was totaled and towed from the scene.
