May 4, 1961 – April 10, 2019

After a courageous battle with cancer Jimmy passed away on April 10, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital, Moses Lake, Washington surrounded by his loving family.

Jimmy was born on May 4, 1961 in Nuremburg, Germany to Henry (Hank) and Yoshiko (Kiriu) Shimmin.

After graduating from Moses Lake High School in 1979, Jimmy went on to the welding program at Big Bend Community College and later he worked in the restaurant industry for Kiyoji’s. After leaving Moses Lake, Jimmy explored different parts of the country. While working near Coulee Dam, he met the love of his life, Cherie.

Jimmy enjoyed the outdoors and had a passion for fishing which he learned from his father. He enjoyed collecting rocks with his wife and never complained when he had to put down his fishing pole to help retrieve the perfect rock.

Jimmy’s way of handling difficult situations with grace and forgiveness is a gift for all who have witnessed it. His witty sense of humor, his honesty and his gentle soul will be truly missed by those who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Cherie (family), his sister Sandy (family), his brother Bill and nephew Joshua (family).

A special thank you to Assured Hospice in Moses Lake and specifically to Jimmy’s care takers, Doug, James and Corrissa for the passionate care provided to Jimmy.

At his request, there will be no services. Donations may be made in Jimmy’s name to Assured Hospice in Moses Lake.
