Grant County Fire District No. 5 firefighters put out a fire near Moses Lake Monday.

MOSES LAKE - A loud explosion may have caused the fire that destroyed a detached garage Monday afternoon near Moses Lake.

About 2:30 p.m., Grant County Fire District 5 firefighters responded to a detached garage fire at a home off of Chapparal Drive Northeast, just north of Moses Lake.

Neighbors at the scene reported hearing a loud explosion coming from the area of the garage, causing the structure to become fully engulfed in flames.

The fire damaged siding to the nearby home before firefighters were able to extinguish the flames.

A truck parked inside the detached garage and a nearby riding lawn mower were also destroyed.

It was also reported nobody was hurt in the fire.

Crews had not determined the cause of the fire and are investigating.
