Police identify victim from fatal Tuesday night shooting in the Larson community

MOSES LAKE - Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting Tuesday night in the Larson community as 21-year-old Phoenix Johnson of Moses Lake.

Johnson had been transferred to a Spokane hospital overnight, where he apparently succumbed to his injuries.

The sheriff’s office was dispatched to the Larson community late Tuesday night for multiple reports of shots fired in the area of Carswell Drive and Schilling Drive. A black sedan had been struck by gunfire multiple times, with the driver of the vehicle suffering a gunshot wound. A second vehicle, identified as carrying the suspect, fled south from the intersection, according to the sheriff’s office.

The victim’s vehicle subsequently traveled over a curb and into the yard of a residence. Medics were summoned, and the victim was transported to Samaritan Hospital in grave condition, according to law enforcement. The suspect, who was wearing a red shirt and white pants, was not located.
