GRANT COUNTY — There were eight new cases of the novel coronavirus reported in Grant County on Wednesday, including four in the Mattawa area, three in Moses Lake, and one in Ephrata, according to Grant County Health District.

This is the largest single-day increase reported by the health district since April 10, when ten new cases were reported.

The county’s total was 215 confirmed cases as of Thursday evening. There were also 34 probable cases and 133 tests still pending results. One hundred and six people had recovered enough to no longer be placed under quarantine, the health district reported last Friday.

Two people sickened with the novel coronavirus are currently hospitalized.

As of Thursday evening, the Quincy area had 75 confirmed cases, Moses Lake had a total of 44, and the Mattawa area had 55.

Thursday’s eight new cases is the largest number for a day going back to April 10.

In addition to tests that have come back positive, 2,708 have come back negative. As of Thursday evening, around 7.4 percent of Grant County tests have come back positive, down from a high of around 13.5 percent at the end of March.
