SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle police homicide detectives are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in North Seattle on Sunday evening, according to a police spokesman.

The Seattle Times reports that the Seattle Fire Department responded to a call at Aurora Avenue North and North 117th Place just after 6 p.m. Sunday, where a 59-year-old man died at the scene from stab wounds, according to spokesman David Cuerpo.

Mark Jamieson, a Seattle police spokesman, said the stabbing suspect fled before officers arrived. Homicide detectives and crime-scene investigators responded to the scene. Jamieson said the stabbing occurred at the north entrance to the Home Depot parking lot off of Aurora, across from a small smoke shop.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department's Violent Crimes tip line, 206-233-5000.
