Letter: Citizens need to be protected from corrupt police

There is so much drama concerning the death of George Floyd. Enough is enough. Each state has different cases. It’s not all about African Americans; many ethnic groups are targeted in other countries. Families are targeted and people are labeled. Our country needs to pass a law and have these officers charged.

Police corruption and brutality are a problem and good cops get a corrupted name because of bad cops. City officials and other officers protect their fellow officers, and families have no justice for wrongdoing. This has gone on long enough. Nobody is above the law. It’s time for change to protect the citizens’ rights from those who abuse their authority.

When Trump went into office he showed mothers who had lost family members to immigrants, but never showed the pictures of family members who had been killed by police. If you protect and allow racism, all families and protesters want is justice. We convict many, why not officers? They took an oath to protect and serve. Time to stand united.
