March 22, 1942 – May 31, 2020

Grace Christine (Morris) Butler, 78, longtime Moses Lake resident, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2020. Christine spent her last days surrounded by her children.

Christine was born on March 22, 1942, in Flat River, Missouri to the late George Henry and Emma Arcadia (Hamblen) Morris. She was the youngest of sixteen children. She was raised and spent a significant part of her life in Missouri where she met her husband, Richard Lee Butler. They were married on Dec. 24, 1960. Their 46 years of marriage brought them eight children, 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

For many years, Christine worked locally as a housekeeper at Samaritan Hospital. There she made many friends and was well-known by much of the staff. When on a public outing, not a time went by that she wasn’t recognized or approached by a member of the community who knew her from work or one of her children. Her sweet, selfless demeanor made her loved by many.

Besides her parents, siblings and husband, Christine was preceded in death by her son, Timothy Wayne Butler of Port Townsend, Washington.

She is survived by four daughters and three sons and their spouses: Richard and Rose Butler of Moses Lake, Cynthia “Sissy” and Craig Williams of Moses Lake, Rebecca and Gregg Orman of Renton, Henry and Tammy Butler of Ephrata, Michelle and Joe Jesse of Moses Lake, Kim and John Forsberg III of Spokane and William and Marion Butler of Monaca, Pennsylvania; 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

The family will say goodbye to Christine on Saturday, Aug. 1 at 11 a.m. in a family graveside service at Guarding Angels Cemetery, 2595 Road L NE, Moses Lake, Washington.
