Adams County sees first death linked to COVID-19

OTHELLO — An Othello man has died after becoming infected with the coronavirus, the first Adams County resident to die with COVID-19, Adams County Health District stated in a press release.

The patient, an Othello man in his late 70s, was a resident of Coventry House Assisted Living and passed away Thursday at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.

The health district wrote in a press release, “Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”

Adams County communicable disease investigative staff members are following up with those who may have been in close contact with the man, according to the press release, and a disease investigation at Coventry is continuing.

Also on Thursday, four new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Othello and one in Hatton. The new cases bring the total in Adams County to 326 confirmed cases.

So far, 212 individuals who were confirmed cases have recovered. Three individuals are hospitalized.

As of Thursday, 2,150 tests have been sent out from Adams County. Of those, 1,601 test results have been negative.
