PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Clackamas County authorities are investigating the suspicious death of a Portland man whose body was found this week in Johnson Creek, and they are asking the public for help.

Kevin Haines Trego, 32, was pulled from the water about 4:30 p.m. Monday near Southeast 82nd Avenue and Luther Road, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

The area runs along the Springwater Corridor Trail.

Detectives believe Trego’s death is suspicious, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported.

Sgt. Marcus Mendoza, a sheriff’s spokesman, declined to provide additional details about the case, citing the ongoing investigation.

He also didn't explain why the sheriff’s office waited four days to release information about Trego’s death.

Investigators are seeking to establish Trego’s whereabouts in the days leading up to his body being found.

Anyone with information is asked to call 503-723-4949 or send a tip online.
