New president to be announced by March 31

MOSES LAKE — Three community college administrators – two from Washington and one from New York – are the finalists for the job of Big Bend Community College president.

The finalists are: Suzanne Ames, vice president of instruction at Lake Washington Institute of Technology; Teresa Rich, vice president of administrative services at Yakima Valley College; and Sara Thompson Tweedy, vice president of student access, involvement and success at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, New York. The finalists were announced after a special meeting of BBCC trustees Thursday.

Big Bend board chair Stephen McFadden said the next step will be an onsite visit with each candidate. Dates for those will be finalized at the Feb. 14 trustee meeting.

The trustees have said a new president will be announced by March 31. The new president will replace Terry Leas, who announced in August 2019 that he would retire after the 2019-20 academic year.
