MOSES LAKE — The Moses Lake Fire Department is looking for donations of toys, clothing and food — as well as money — to help provide for needy families this winter.

According to MLFD firefighter and paramedic Mike Miner, the department’s Firefighters For Kids Foundation hopes to help at least 30 families — and their kids — this Christmas.

“We have that capability, and that’s our goal,” he said.

Anyone interested in donating can bring new toys, new clothes and diapers can bring those to the Moses Lake Fire Station No. 1 at 701 E. Third Ave. from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Donations can also be made online at firefightersforkids.org/donate.

“If you give online it’s way easier for everybody,” Miner said.

In addition to donations to give to families, Miner said the group is also looking for needy families to help this year.

“If people know a family in need, they can get online and fill out an application,” he said.

Donations are due by Monday, Dec. 23, when Firefighters For Kids will be distributing their donations.

Last year, the organization gave toys, clothes and diapers to over 100 kids, with all donations going to help kids and their families in the Moses Lake area, Miner said.
