MOSES LAKE - A convicted sexual offender considered at high risk to reoffend is moving into a Moses Lake home, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Kevin D. Beler, 51, will be living in the 900 block of West Broadway in Moses Lake, according to a sex offender registry. He is a level III sex offender, the highest available rating, which are considered to pose a high risk to re-offend within the community at large.
According to a frequently asked questions sheet posted by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office, level III sex offenders may have predatory characteristics and may seek out victims unknown to the offender.
Beler has been convicted of one sex crime in the last 25 years, according to the registry. In 1994, Beler, then 26, was convicted of first-degree molestation of a child.
Beler has been convicted nine times for other crimes and misdemeanors since 1994, including three convictions for failing to register as a sex offender.
“The Grant County Sheriff’s Office has no legal authority to direct where a sex offender may or may not live,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a press release. “Citizens should refrain from threatening, intimidating, or harassing registered sex offenders. Such abuse could potentially end law enforcement’s ability to notify the community.“
