Summer baseball roundup: Riverdogs finish regional pool play unbeaten

CALGARY, Alberta — Columbia Basin won twice on Thursday to finish pool play 4-0 at its Babe Ruth regional tournament in Calgary, Alberta.

The Riverdogs dispatched North Washington No. 2 seed Lakeside Recovery 7-0 before beating Calgary Blues AAA 10-0.

Dax Lindgren hit an RBI single to begin a 5-run first inning. The Riverdogs managed only four hits, taking advantage of two errors and five walks by Lakeside.

Joe Taylor doubled and scored once. Moses Lake’s Evan McLean scored twice and drove in a run.

Columbia Basin got off to another quick start against Calgary, scoring six runs in the first inning. Gabe Passey hit a 2-run single and Josh Williams added an RBI single.

Jonathan Garza pitched a five-hit shutout against Calgary with seven strikeouts. Vance Alvarado struck out nine Lakeside batters.

Hanford 5, Central Washington 2

HANFORD — Central Washington fell behind 2-0 after one inning and lost to Hanford 5-2.

Wade Visker hit a solo home run and Zach Valdez drove in one run.
