Azevedo, Moore finish top-four at state golf

MOSES LAKE — Othello junior Patrick Azevedo came within a few strokes of his second 2A state golf championship, finishing third at Liberty Lake Golf Course in Spokane. Azevedo has finished in the top five all three years he’s competed, including a title as a freshman.

Azevedo finished the first day of the tournament just three strokes off the lead, with a score of 76. The Othello junior shot a 74 on Day 2 to finish with a total score of 150, just three strokes off champion Jordan Medcalf of Lynden High School.

Ephrata’s Jayce Moore tied for fourth behind Azevedo. Moore finished with a total score of 155 in the tournament. The Tigers finished third in team scoring behind Ridgefield and Sequim. Jacob Rawley finished tied for 14th for the Tigers, with a total score of 161.

Ellensburg’s Kathryn Crimp claimed the girls’ 2A state title with a total score of 146 at MeadowWood Golf Course in Spokane. Four CWAC golfers made it to the second day. Quincy’s Stacia Sarty tied for 19th, with a 177 after round two. Ephrata finished 10th in team scoring. Emmie Dilling finished 34th with a 187, Payton Hagy took 35th at 189 and Isabel Buchert came in right behind the two at 37th with a final score of 195.

Royal’s Kaylee Janett tied for 39th in the 1B/2B/1A State championship at Tumwater Valley Golf Course. Janett finished with a 193 total score for the tournament,
