AppleSox swept in makeup doubleheader with Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. — After a rainy weekend, the AppleSox played a makeup doubleheader with the Portland Pickles on Monday.

The AppleSox struggled in both games, losing the opener 3-0 and the nightcap 9-0.

In the opener, the Pickles homered in the second inning to score first and then scratched out two more runs.

The Pickles steadily built their lead in Game 2. Portland led 2-0 after two innings, 4-0 after four innings and 6-0 after five innings. Portland added three more runs in the sixth inning, extending its lead to 9-0.

The AppleSox travel to Corvallis, Ore. today.
