Marta Pruneda Valdez, 95, of Moses Lake, Wash. went home to our Lord on Nov. 27, 2017. She will forever be treasured and truly missed by family and friends.

Marta was born in Hobson, Texas on Nov. 27, 1922 to parents Soilo Pruneda and Refugia Pruneda. Marta was raised in Cerralvo, Nuevo León, Mexico with her family where she also met the love of her life, Torivio Valdez. Marta and Torivio married in 1938. They moved back to the United States in 1949, traveling throughout the country doing agricultural work. In 1958, Marta and Torivio eventually decided to call Moses Lake “home.”

Marta and Torivio gave birth to 25 children. Marta enjoyed sewing, cooking, coloring and music and most of all spending time with her family and friends. She especially enjoyed the annual Valdez get-togethers at the ranch, where we celebrated her birthday every year. Marta’s kind heart, glowing smile and infectious laughter will forever be missed.

Marta is survived by daughters Maria Elena P. (Samual, deceased) Suarez, Olivia P. (Marian) Agbisit, Sally P. (Joe, deceased) Balderas; sons Trinidad P. (Tina) Valdez, Renulfo P. (Esmeralda) Valdez, Rudy P. (Patsy) Valdez, Ruben P. Valdez, Carlos P. Valdez, Salvador P. Valdez, and Jesus P. Valdez; 41 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren, 67 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild.

Marta was preceded in death by her husband Torivio Sr. Valdez, sons Joe P. Valdez (Marge), Frank P. Valdez (Angie), Pablo P. Valdez, Modesto P. Valdez, Rosendito P. Valdez, Jose P. Valdez, Jesus P.
