| September 25, 2023 1:42 PM

Nona Jane Sielaff-Leaf (Norwick), of Moses Lake, peacefully passed away on September 22, 2023, at home surrounded by family.

Nona is survived by brother Milo Norwick; son John Sielaff (Jackie) and son Marv Leaf (Carrie);five grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Nona was preceded in death by brothers Donald Norwick and Lyle Norwick; sisters Arlene Kalmbach and Lillian Lucke, and son Tony Leaf.

Nona was born in 1934 in Northgate, Saskatchewan, Canada. She later moved to Kenmare, N.D., and graduated from Kenmare High School. She then moved to Washington where she worked as a telephone operator.

In 1953, Nona met and married Dale Sielaff. A year later, she gave birth to their son, John. Nona went on to have a successful 30-year career with U.S. Bank as a loan officer.

In 2001, Nona met the man she says, “brought sunshine into her life,” Evald Leaf. They married in 2002 and shared many adventures together, including travel to Greece, Mexico, England and more.

She was truly one of a kind — a selfless and kindhearted soul whose generosity and love for her family knew no bounds. She was an excellent cook and a master of needle and thread. Every beautiful quilt she gifted held with it a piece of her heart. She always enjoyed a good card game, keeping her opponents on their toes. She also took great pride in upholding cherished family traditions. A favorite day of the year was her family’s lefse-making party. She made sure all her grandchildren could make the perfect lefse.

We have fond memories of spending time with our wife, mother and grandma. Her laughter was infectious, and we will remember and cherish her unconditional love. Her grandchildren and nieces and nephews were always top of mind. She loved to dance alongside her sisters as the Clogging Grannies.

Her love for travel was infectious, and her stories of her adventures with Evald will be remembered by all. Her unwavering devotion to her church was a testament to the depth of her faith. She will be deeply missed.

A memorial service for Nona will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Moses Lake, Wash., on Thursday, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring her memory. Expressions of condolences to the family may be sent to the church.

Arrangements are under the care of Kayser's Chapel of Memories.
