February 23, 1931 – March 4, 2018

Joe P. Simpson, 87, Moses Lake resident and formerly of Spokane, passed away Sunday, March 4 at home, his loving family by his side.

Joe was born on Feb. 23, 1931 in Spokane, Wash. son of the late Earl and Verlie Simpson. He was educated in Spokane and graduated from North Central High School in 1949, enlisted in the Air Force in 1951 where he was stationed in Germany, and graduated from Kinman Business University in 1956. In 1957, he married Ila Sanborn at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Spokane. He was employed at U & I Sugar until its closing and managed Green Acres Credit Union. He retired from Northwest Microfilm in Spokane, Wash.

Joe will always be remembered for his unwavering faith in the Lord, love of numbers and being the go-to in the family with any financial questions, reading his daily papers, playing with his children and grandchildren along with taking “his” dogs for rides in his Mustang. He was a quiet man, but you could tell he was always thinking and had a smile on his face when his family was together. He will be missed dearly by both family and friends.

Survivors include his wife Ila, Moses Lake; three sons and one daughter Tim (Denise), Bremerton, Patti Fuentes (Bruce), Seattle, Sean (Debbie), Moses Lake and Tye (Annette), Seattle; nine grandchildren Raven Kerr, Skyler (Kayleen), Malea (Jeremy) Tetzlaff, Kyleigh (Tyler) Bakes, Makayla, Raeanne, Jasmine, Deja, and Loli and four great-granddaughters Bentleigh, Paizlee, Aspen, Charlee along with many nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his brother Floyd and daughter Barbara.

Services will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
