SPOKANE — The Almira/Coulee-Hartline girls left nothing to chance in Saturday’s 1B Hardwood Classic, racing to a 22-5 lead and rolling up Mountain View Christian 69-24 to finish fourth.

The giant-killers from the year before couldn’t repeat the historic feat and beat Colton for the second straight year. But the No. 7 Warriors (25-4) did the next best thing, dropping to the consolation bracket where they avenged an earlier loss to No. 6 Selkirk, 63-29, then dismantled No. 5 Mountain View Christian to bring home a trophy for the third straight season.

Senior Tiffany Boutain wrapped up her stellar high school career on the floor of the Spokane Arena. The 5-foot-4 point guard was 8-of-15 from the field and 7-of-12 from the free-throw line for a game-high 23 points. She also had five assists and two steals for the Warriors, who shot 53.1 percent from the field.

Josie Pierce had 11 points and Gabi Isaak came through with 13 points and eight rebounds to give the Warriors a little inside-out game when they needed it.

ACH shot 55.0 percent (11-20) from 3-point range, which proved to be the deciding factor. Boutain was a remarkable 7-12 from beyond the arc. Oshun Parrish, Kendel Correia, and Isaak also had one from downtown.

The Warriors defense was not to be overshadowed by the offensive fireworks. ACH held Mount Vernon Christian (22-9) to single digits in all four quarters. They generated 16 turnovers with the pressure defense, while committing a season low three themselves.

Sarah Bradshaw and Boutain had two steals apiece and the Warriors finished with six steals on the day.

The Hurricanes shot just 20 percent (7-35) from the floor and 63 percent (3-16) from the free-throw line. They trailed 33-14 at the half and never led.

For Caitlin O’Neil, Boutain and Pierce, it was the final game of their high school basketball careers. They wrapped it up on the floor of the Spokane Arena where they helped ACH bring home another trophy from the Hardwood Classic.
