Elections set for tree fruit, pear committees

WENATCHEE — Cherry growers will be selecting representatives to the Washington Fruit Commission during the annual Stone Fruit Day in Wenatchee Jan. 16. Pear growers will elect representatives to the Processed Pear Committee on NCW Pear Day, Jan. 17.

Both events are at the Wenatchee Convention Center.

Two seats are open on the tree fruit commission in District No. 1, which is north central Washington and includes Quincy and Ephrata. The incumbent in Position No. 2 is Tate Mathison; that seat is designated for cherry producers. Position No. 11 also is up for election and is designated for cherry dealers. The incumbent is Mike Wade.

Fruit commission directors serve three-year terms, through May 2021.

The Processed Pear Committee has two seats open, one for growers, the second for processors. Andrew Sundquist is the grower incumbent; Ed Kenoyer is the first alternate for the seat. Mike Taylor is the second alternate.

Peter Verbrugge is processor incumbent. The first alternate is Rod Matson, Rob Stewart the second alternate.

Seats on the processed pear committee are two-year terms.
