AppleSox keep playoff hopes alive

| August 7, 2018 3:00 AM

KELOWNA, B.C. — The Wenatchee AppleSox WCL playoff hopes are sketchy at best. The simplest thing they can do is sweep the final series of the regular season at Elks Stadium and see how the rest shakes out.

Conner McCord went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the AppleSox (26-26, 15-11 second half) to a 7-4 victory over the Falcons (26-26, 12-14 second half). Even with the sweep, the AppleSox still need some help. They are currently a game and a half out of first in the North division with three games remaining.

If Yakima loses twice this weekend to the Corvallis Knights and the Sox win all three games against Kelowna, the Sox move into a tie with Bellingham for the best record in the second half.

Corvallis did its part with a 9-5 victory over Yakima.
