America must return to its faith

| January 26, 2017 2:00 AM

Thank you Columbia Basin Herald for allowing us space to share our thoughts to others.

I watched the inaugural program last Friday and listened to our new president’s inaugural speech. I am cautiously optimistic and somewhat concerned about where our nation is headed. I am optimistic because our president spoke with a great deal of confidence. My hope is that the confidence in which he spoke stems from true faith that gives us the assurance of truth.

My concern is that we, as a nation, have moved so far away from the faith on which our nation was founded and have become so proud of our accomplishments that we refuse to humble ourselves and return to the author of our faith.

The church has been given the mandate to lead our nation back into righteousness. Are we willing to accept this responsibility and shed our pride, revive ourselves and again become the salt and light of our nation? There is but one head of our church yet we are dealing with denominational and doctrinal pride and refuse to acknowledge our own problems. I am confident through the assurance of faith that we will very soon allow Jesus to once again become the head and will be the body and one with him.
