MOSES LAKE — An empty building at a closed Moses Lake business on Marina Drive was destroyed by fire early Monday morning, possibly from a campfire left by a transient.

No one was injured in the fire, which destroyed a small building at the former Holmes Brothers building supply business, 1098 West Marina Dr. The fire was reported about 6 a.m. Monday, according to officials at the Moses Lake Fire Department.

Firefighters found what looked like the remains of a campfire inside the building, fire department officials said. Moses Lake police officers had asked a man to leave the premises at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday. The man apparently was a transient, fire department officials said.

The building was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived Monday morning. The fire was restricted to the building and no other structures were damaged, fire department officials said.

Firefighters were on the scene until about 9:30 a.m. Monday.
