Watch for vehicle prowls, sheriff says

| November 11, 2016 12:00 AM

EPHRATA — Vehicle prowls are on the rise, as they tend to be this time of year, and Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones urges car owners to be vigilant.

“We are already seeing an uptick in vehicle prowls in the MarDon area,” Jones said.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is reminding people how they can help stop these crimes. You can:

1. Be on the lookout (BOLO) for suspicious activity. If you see someone who appears to be out of place, call 911. Try to get a good description of the person. If they’re driving a vehicle try to get the license number and a description and report what you have seen.

2. Remove valuables from your vehicle. Don’t leave tempting targets in your car.

3. Always lock your vehicles.

“By working together and watching out for our neighbors, we can all help stop thieves from taking advantage of our communities,” Jones said.

If you have information on a crime, call 509-762-1160, or send information to crimetips@grantcountywa.gov. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
