Chief Moses celebrates student successes

| February 2, 2016 5:00 AM

MOSES LAKE — Students and staff at Chief Moses Middle School (CMMS) packed the school’s gymnasium Friday to celebrate student successes and achievements with a high-energy assembly.

With the first semester drawing to a close, students were recognized for a variety of achievements, including academic success, attendance, club participation and some who were selected as outstanding students for the semester in their respective class pods.

Students who were a part of the following categories were recognized: 4.0 GPA, 3.8 GPA, La Chispa, perfect attendance, geography bee winner, Math is Cool, ASB representatives, Guitar Club, and first semester Student of the Month. Students were also selected by pod teachers and elective teachers for recognition.

Students who were recognized Friday were released to the cafeteria before the assembly. They received their certificates and were then led into the crowded gym by the school’s cheerleaders to a chorus of music and cheering peers.

Teachers took turns recognizing certain students for their accomplishments, efforts, participation and hard work. Staff members described their outstanding students using all kinds of traits — kind, helpful, polite, passionate, generous, dedicated, and respectful, to name just a few.

More than 300 students were recognized Friday at the assembly.
