| August 10, 2016 3:35 PM

MOSES LAKE — A fast-acting Moses Lake Police Department officer was able to pull a distraught woman who was trying to jump off a Interstate 90 overpass to safety.

About 3:55 p.m. on Tuesday Moses Lake police were dispatched to a report of a distraught woman climbing over the I-90 overpass railing on Broadway Avenue. MLPD officers and deputies with the Grant County Sheriff’s responded and talked with the woman, according to Moses Lake police on Wednesday.

Officer Caleb Welsh was reportedly able to pull the woman off the railing. She was restrained without incident and transported to Grant County Mental Health for evaluation.

“This is a great example of the quality work our officers perform every day. It also demonstrates the necessity of teamwork, as the efforts of both the Grant County deputies and Officer Welsh were necessary to bring this incident to a successful conclusion,” stated the MLPD in a release.
