Trio appears on robbery, kidnapping charges

EPHRATA - In what a prosecutor alleges was a heroin-induced attempt to get rent money, three suspects were arraigned yesterday for allegedly robbing a man when he showed up for a date with a Moses Lake woman he met online.
EPHRATA - In what a prosecutor alleges was a heroin-induced attempt to get rent money, three suspects were arraigned yesterday for allegedly robbing a man when he showed up for a date with a Moses Lake woman he met online.
Ciarra Webb, 19; Angel Avalos, 20; and Jordan Ramirez, 22, all of Moses Lake, appeared in court on robbery and kidnapping charges after a man told police he was robbed at gunpoint early Tuesday morning when he came to their house to meet Webb for a date.
When he got inside the home about 2:30 a.m., Webb invited him inside and then went upstairs, according to the police report. That is when Ramirez allegedly came inside the apartment, pointed a long brown gun at the man and demanded his wallet, according to police. Avalos later showed up and participated in the robbery. The men reportedly stole $400 from the man, his passport and debit card and later called the man demanding the personal identification number for his debit card, according to the police report
According to court documents, Webb is pregnant with Avalos' baby. The two could be seen talking and looking at each other during their court hearing yesterday.
Grant County Superior Court Judge John Knodell set Avalos' and Ramirez's bail at $100,000 even though neither had any criminal convictions, or failure to appear citations.
"These are very serious charges," Knodell said.
Attorney David Bustamante said the Ramirez's only brush with the law was a speeding ticket he paid last year.
Webb's bail was set at $75,000 even though she has been convicted of at least two gross misdemeanors and at least two failure to appear citations. Bustamante said those citations were issued because Webb was in jail, not avoiding court.
If the suspects make bail, Knodell ordered that they not have any contact with the victim. According to court documents, the trio admitted to the robbery and said they needed money to pay for rent and the electric bill, and they had a problem with drugs, mainly heroin.
