CW 1B South all-conference teams announced

Postseason awards for the Central Washington 1B South conference were released recently.

On the boys side, the district champion Soap Lake Eagles had three representatives. Nic Kapalo was named Most Valuable Player while his teammates Bo Nielsen and Brayden Winters were given first team honors.

The trio helped Soap Lake to an 18-3 record and a second straight district championship after defeating Pateros, 45-36, in the title game.

Columbia Basin's Dan Sielaff and Kyrelle Buckley were also given first team honors. Sielaff, a junior, is expected to play for Wilson Creek next season after the secondary school becomes a middle school.

Moses Lake Christian Academy's Alec Naccarato and Spencer McNamara were awarded first team and honorable mention, respectively.

MLCA's head boys basketball coach Duke Wood was given his third straight coach of the year award.

Danielle Sandberg, of MLCA, was named MVP for the girls. Her teammates Anna Yarbro and Mikayla Louden were named first team and honorable mention, respectively.

The Lions were able to advance to the district championship game against Pateros before losing 41-29.

MLCA plays Taholah in a regional contest noon Saturday at Ellensburg High School.

Soap Lake's Nelly Korneychuk, Samantha White and Marissa Brooks were all named to the first team. Amber Lloyd, of Columbia Basin, was given honorable mention.
