Heriberta "Betty" Cantu

Heriberta "Betty" Cantu, 75, longtime Moses Lake resident, died Friday, February 7, 2014 in Samaritan Healthcare, Moses Lake, WA. She was born March 16, 1938 in Runge, Texas to Jesus and Maria Contreras Manzanales.

Betty, as she was known met and married Perfecto "Pat" Cantu on March 21, 1959 in Lubbock, Texas. They moved to Moses Lake, WA in 1966, and she worked for Sunspice Inc. for more than 20 years before retiring. She loved being outside watching birds come to the feeders. She enjoyed music very much and was played everywhere in her home. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband Perfecto "Pat" Cantu, of Moses Lake, WA, daughter Mary Carrara of Houston, TX, son Joe and his wife Stephanie Cantu , daughter Maria "Margie" Cantu Bailey, all of Moses Lake, WA, daughter Catarina "Cathy" and her husband Ben Erickson of Nine Mile Falls, WA; grandchildren Andrea, Katrina, Aaron, BJ, Neal, Angela, Amalia, Jonathan, Christina, Jeremy, Dara, Victoria, Michael, Margarita, Brandon, Kendra, Kaylee and Jesse; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter Anita Cantu.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Carver Family Funeral Home, 1217 E. Wheeler Rd., Moses Lake, WA, and on Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:00 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 200 N. Dale Rd., Moses Lake, WA. A luncheon will immediately follow the Mass in the Fatima (CCD) Center.
