| February 7, 2014 5:00 AM

CLE ELUM - A Moses Lake driver was injured, but escaped fire, after the truck he was driving crashed and burned about a mile west of here on I-90, Jan. 28.

Jose F. Macias, 35, of Moses Lake was transported by ambulance to Kittitas Valley Healthcare in Ellensburg. The 2010 Freightliner with Busby trailer Macias was driving was totaled and towed from the scene by Willettes Tow.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Macias was wearing his seatbelt and drugs nor alcohol were involved.

The WSP reported that Macias lost control of his truck while eastbound on I-90. It veered to the right, struck a guardrail and bridge abutment, then traveled across an overpass and ended up blocking both lanes. It burst into flames and became fully engulfed.

The WSP suspected an equipment malfunction, and no charges were expected against Macias.
