Moses Lake soccer falls to Sunnyside

SUNNYSIDE - Moses Lake boys soccer (4-1, 6-3-1) went toe-to-toe with undefeated Sunnyside on the road before falling in overtime, 3-2.

Johnny Cortez scored a pair of goals for the Chiefs and the two clubs were tied ww2-2 at the end of regulation. Sunnyside's Alexander Marin was able to score the game-winning goal for the Grizzlies seven minutes into the extra session.

Moses Lake will look to rebound on Friday when the team travels to face Eisenhower. The Chiefs defeated the Cadets 5-2 at home on April 8.

For a majority of the match, Moses Lake kept the Cadets scoreless before giving up two late goals playing mostly reserves.

Around the Basin

Othello (5-0, 11-1) pushed its win streak to eight matches after beating West Valley (Yakima), 4-0.

Jason Rodriguez ended with a hat trick, bringing his total goals to 10 on the season. The Huskies are currently ranked fifth in the 2A classification according to the latest Seattle Times poll.

Ephrata (0-4, 5-6) lost its fourth match in a row after falling to Grandview, 2-1.

Quincy (8-1, 8-3) preserved its CTL lead with an 8-1 win against Cashmere.
