ROYAL CITY - The Royal High soccer team, which started the SCAC campaign a little slow at 1-2, served up a couple of blowouts to right the ship.

The first was 9-0 over Kiona-Benton. The second was 8-0 against Naches, bringing the record to 3-2.

"In both matches we were able to bring a maximum roster size, and everyone played equal minutes. So it was good to see a mix of guys," coach Jens Jensen said.

Tonight, the Knights will learn just how far they've come in the new season. They will host arch-rival Wahluke, which has won six in a row after an opening loss, to take the SCAC lead.

The Ki-Be match was simply lop-sided. The Knights took 37 shots while the Bears had only four. Royal had a 7-0 edge in corner kicks.

The result was that six individual Knights scored. Jose Ponce had three goals, Marcos Quiroz had two, and Jesus Torres, Julio Valencia, Isidro Dela Rosa and Oscar Ramirez had one each.

Luis Garcia has two assists. Israel Cortez, Tanner Christensen, Cesar Bernal, Danny Cuevas and Alberto Acevedo had one each. There were only two saves, one each by Miguel Alvarez and Jose Jimenez.

In the Naches contest, the hot attacker was substitute Jose Medina. He took five shots and produced four goals.

This was not as lop-sided at the Ki-Be game. The Knights took 23 shots to five.

Willy Navarro had two saves, and Miguel Alvarez recorded one.

Others to score goals were Luis Garcia (2), Miguel Alvarez and Abraham Medina. Cesar Bernal, Isidro Dela Rosa, Danny Cuevas, Luis Garcia, Marcos Quiroz and Luis Garcia made assists.
